Course Curriculum
In this Beginners Tai Chi Course, I (Jane) will personally take you through the standard Yang Style 40 Form over 40 weeks. The entire form takes 15-20min to practise and contains 40 movements from start to finish. Each week we will aim to learn 1-2 new movements along with regular review of earlier ones. Don't worry if you have any health concerns or physical restrictions, the movements can be adjusted to your current capacity. Tai Chi is never about forcing your body to do what it cannot, but about gradually opening up the possibility for greater ease and flexibility over time!
If for some reason you miss a class, you may catch up in the following lesson either a little before class begins or after it finishes.
We will also cover the following:
- The basic Tai Chi posture - Foundational footwork - Stretching and warm up techniques - Some basic Tai Chi relaxation exercises - Health benefits of Tai Chi practice - How Tai Chi relates to Chinese Medicine
Upon completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for all your hard work and efforts!
What to Bring & Wear to the Classes
Please wear a comfortable T-shirt or long sleeve shirt and loose long pants to the classes. This will allow sufficient leg room for stretching.
An extra jacket if necessary, in case of windy or cooler weather. This is because after practising Tai Chi, the skin pores are often more open and sudden exposure to wind and/or cold can increase the likelihood of catching a cold.
